The standard envelopes are quite flat, allowing just a few sheets of paper, but it is also possible to get them with a gusset thus allowing more bulky items to be sent. These tend to be stronger than the standard ones.
As with paper, envelopes have an international standard known as the 'C' series. These are designed to take paper sizes according to the 'A' series. For example, a C4 envelope is designed to take an unfolded sheet of A4 paper, and similarly a C5 envelope will take an unfolded A5 sheet of paper. Please see the table below for all the details.
